How does live illustration work?!

A question that frequently gets asked, and I hope this video helps explain how I work a bit more.

It starts from the moment I arrive at your wedding or event, I begin taking photos of guests. This means that everyone has a chance to have an illustration and no one has to sit in front of me and wait.

I then hand sketch your photo, and it still amazes me how many guests think they are pre printed. All my portraits are drawn from scratch, no iPads no pre prints, I draw from photos so your guests can continue to celebrate your day with you.

After I apply fine liner ink to your portrait I then paint. I use watercolours and highlighter pens. My portraits aren’t super detailed, they take me 10-12 minutes a couple.

I love watercolours, they have a beautiful, with a loose whimsical feel, and they suit my style of illustrations.

To finish off I add a few quick extra details to clothing, finishing with a personalised stamp for every couple. The portrait then get packaged ready to collect at the end of the evening.

If live illustration is something you feel would suit your special day I’d love to chat more.

My packages and prices can be found on my website.
